With handy locations in Queensland and Victoria, Go Ride A Wave is Australia’s favourite Learn to Surf School, Surf Hire and Corporate Team Building Activities hub.
Catch the perfect job!
Some people spend their weekends chasing waves. Others spend their holidays exploring coastlines, paddling rivers and making the most of the outdoors.
At Go Ride A Wave, that’s just another day at work.
Since 1987, we’ve been introducing people of all ages to surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding (SUP) and outdoor adventure experiences across Victoria and Queensland. Every lesson, tour and team-building activity is an opportunity to build confidence, create unforgettable memories and share a genuine passion for the outdoors.
If you’re energetic, positive and love working with people, we’d love to hear from you.
Your office has an ocean view
Whether you’re teaching first-time surfers, guiding a kayak adventure, running a SUP session or facilitating a corporate team-building event, the ‘Great Outdoors’ is your office!
Every day is different
One day you could be helping a child catch their first wave. The next you might be leading a team building activity, introducing school students to ocean safety or paddling with visitors discovering the coastline for the first time.
No two days—and no two groups—are ever the same.
Our instructors are the ‘beating heart’ of Go Ride A Wave. Our staff bring enthusiasm, encouragement and a positive attitude to every session.
From your very first observation classes, you’ll be supported by experienced senior instructors who will mentor you, help build your confidence and guide your development as an outdoor instructor. We believe great instructors aren’t just born—they’re developed through experience, teamwork and ongoing learning.
Learn new skills and grow your career
Many of our instructors join us because they love surfing or being outdoors. They stay because of the opportunities.
As your skills grow, you’ll have the chance to expand into multiple activities including surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and corporate team-building programs. Our annual staff training and ongoing mentoring help you continue learning while increasing the variety of work available to you.
For those wanting to build a career in outdoor recreation, there are also opportunities to progress into Senior Instructor and Instructor in Charge roles with additional responsibility and leadership.
One of the most rewarding parts of working at Go Ride A Wave is seeing people’s confidence grow.
Whether it’s someone standing on a surfboard for the first time, overcoming their fear of the ocean, or a corporate team celebrating after completing a challenge together, you’ll be creating experiences people remember long after they leave the beach.
