Be part of the Go Ride A Wave Team – We are seeking staff now.

Employment at Go Ride A Wave is highly sought after especially by members of local surf life saving clubs because they often have many of the required qualifications. Go Ride a Wave offers a number of casual instructor positions throughout the year. We conduct a wide range of activities that are predominantly aquatic, for a diverse range of client groups. The majority of our client base is drawn from schools, however we have many community groups, physically and emotionally challenged groups and also an expanding corporate market.

The range of activities we offer are:
Surfing, ocean kayaking, body boarding, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), surf life saving programs, initiative courses (team building) and life guarding.

To become a Go Ride a Wave instructor you will need to genuinely enjoy meeting and communicating with all sorts of people. You will be helping clients overcome basic fears and discomfort by providing a safe, fun and positive environment. Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and consequently show empathy for your students and fellow instructors. You will work in a team environment and demonstrate passion for your work and lifestyle.

As a casual instructor your role is to observe, assist and pass on as much help and knowledge as possible, focusing on your student’s needs. Consequently, during a lesson you will never be off surfing or catching waves on your own. You may be required to demonstrate some skills but generally there will be no surfing by Instructors in classes.

Requirements

The Minimum Requirements for Assistant Instructors:

  • Current Bronze Medallion
  • Current level 2 first aid certificate
  • Working with Children Check/ Blue card

All the above paper work must be located at Go Ride a Wave prior to commencement of work.

All new instructors will start as assistants. Go Ride a Wave strongly encourages staff to undertake the necessary in-house and accredited courses to become senior instructors in a multitude of activities. This will certainly make them more employable.

Regular in-house training dates will be set to encourage staff to build their own skill level in a number of activities.

Wages

The majority of Go Ride a Wave classes are two hour lessons and instructors are paid set up and pack up time for their classes. We also offer above award wages.

We only consider applicants who have consistent availability. Weekends and public holidays are an essential requirement.
